First Saturday Devotion: In 1925, Our Lady of Fatima appeared to 18 yr. old Lucia Santos, holding her thorn-wreathed Heart. Mary told Lucia: “See, my daughter, my heart, surrounded by thorns with which ungrateful men wound it at every moment by their blasphemies and ingratitude. You at least try to console me. Tell everyone that I promise to assist at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation, all those who for five consecutive first Saturdays, with the intention of making reparation to my Immaculate Heart, will (1) go to confession, (2) receive Holy Communion, (3) recite the Rosary, and (4) keep me company during 15 minutes while meditating on the 15 mysteries of the Rosary.” (Confession must be made 8 days before or after the first Saturday). The Rosary is prayed at Mary Queen of Peace Church on the first Saturday of each month, immediately following the 9:00 AM Mass.
First Friday Adoration: In 1675, Our Lord appeared “out of a monstrance” to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, promising to grant the grace of repentance at their last hour to those who honor Jesus’ Sacred Heart by the reception of Holy Communion on nine consecutive first Fridays. First Friday Adoration is offered the first Friday of each month from Noon to 4:00 PM at St. Joseph Church.
