Faith Formation
Faith Formation at Saints Mary and Joseph Parish is more than a religious education program—it is an opportunity for the entire family to grow in faith together.
We believe that parents are the primary educators of their children in the faith. Our Family Faith Formation Program supports families in living the Catholic faith at home while preparing children to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion.
Through worship, prayer, learning, and community, we help families deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ and become active participants in the life of the Church.
We are honored to accompany your family on this journey of faith and look forward to welcoming you into our Family Faith Formation community.

Program Information & Registration - Quick Facts
Children's Sacramental Preparation (Grades 2–6)
Our children's sacramental preparation program is a two-year journey that prepares children to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion.
Year One
- Preparation for and reception of First Reconciliation
Year Two
- Preparation for Confirmation and First Holy Communion
- Reception of Confirmation and First Holy Communion in the spring
Class Schedule
- Twice monthly on Sundays
- Begins with Holy Mass followed by classroom instruction
Teen Confirmation Program (Grades 7 and Above)
Students in Grade 7 and above who have not yet received the Sacrament of Confirmation or are candidate and have also not received the sacrament of First Eucharist, may participate in our Teen Confirmation Program.
Program Length
- One-year preparation program

- Mondays at 5:00 PM
- Emmaus Hall, Mary Queen of Peace Parish
Parent Requirements
Because parents are the primary educators of their children in the faith, all families are expected to:
- Attend Sunday Mass weekly
- Participate in parish life
- Attend monthly Parent Faith Formation Sessions
- Attend the Parent Information Meeting

Attendance by at least one parent or guardian is required.
Required Documents:
If your child was baptized outside of Saints Mary and Joseph Parish, please provide a copy of their Baptism Certificate at the time of registration.
Confirmation candidates must also submit sponsor information and any required forms by the deadlines provided.
Catholic School Families
Students attending Catholic schools are required to participate in parish sacramental preparation in order to receive the sacraments.
Catholic school students preparing for First Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion follow the same parish sacramental preparation requirements as all other families.
Registration Fees
- $100 per child
- $50 per child for students attending a Catholic school
Registration
Registration opens annually on June 1.
Families may register:
- Online through the parish website (see below)
- After Mass using a paper registration form available at the back of the churches
- At the Parish Office, located at our Mary Queen of Peace Church campus, 200 Lawrence Road, Salem, NH 03079
